Jim Clavin Bio: Owner of Clavin Painting

I started painting in 2005 full time for a well-known painter in the area. He taught me everything I needed to start my own painting business. We focused on Residential Exterior and Interior painting. I painted for a few years and decided to go another direction. I entered college and worked towards a Bachelors Degree in Humans Services, Criminal Justice and Sociology. With that degree I became a Substance Abuse Counselor and finally ended up Supervising the Adult and Adolescence Residential Faculties as well as 2 Men’s Long Term Recovery Houses. It was truly and awesome experience. Along the way I continued to paint on the side whenever possible. My desire to have my own business accompanied with my love for painting sparked Clavin Painting in the summer of 2019. With the help and encouragement of family, friends, and the love of my life, I started building a small business. I started out as a one-man crew with a Grand Prix a few ladders and minimal paint supplies. I continued to work part time for the local treatment center and by the spring of 2020 I was busy enough to go full time painting and the rest is history. There is nothing better then finishing a project and being a part of the transformation. I absolutely love what I’ve been given the opportunity to do! We continue to expand and grow and have been blessed with amazing customers and great employees who share the same desire to the best job possible with the best products and equipment available. I’ve always been a people person with a desire to do things right the first time. What a blessing it is to be able to surround yourself with great people and get to do what you love to do! We will never claim to be perfect, but we absolutely strive for perfection on each and every beautification project we have the opportunity to do!

Jack Hason Bio: Team Member

A machine is comprised of many moving parts, and Clavin Painting is no exception. Born in La Crosse Wisconsin, and raised in Fort Dodge IA, I found my way into the working world through the food industry. After many years of line cooking at multiple establishments, I was promoted into management, where I developed some book-keeping skills, and attained a wide knowledge of the inner workings of business. While making the change out of the food industry was a heavy decision, I made the choice to broaden my horizons by taking a job with a local appliance store, where I furthered my skills in business management. During the spring of 2021, a conversation between Jim and I lead me to take a position on Jim’s management team. Since then, I have learned the tricks of the trade from Jim and our coworkers, and enjoy the challenges presented by each new project. At the end of the day, it’s easy to tell that our crews take pride in what we do, and that alone makes it easy to go to work each day.
